Proper Care for Your Sunglasses
As with any quality product, proper care will enhance and prolong the usefulness of your sunglasses and protect your investment. Your sunglasses are coated on the backside of the lens with an anti-reflective (A/R) coating which is essential in eliminating glare and is one of the three elements that make up our patented design.
For optimum performance, rinse your sunglasses daily in warm water. Use a mild liquid dish to wash each lens surface if necessary. Dry using a clean, soft, absorbent cloth. Do not use paper-based products to clean your lenses. Do not use abrasive cleaners, soaps or detergents that may leave a deposit on the lens. Do not use tissues with added lotions, lanolin, silicone or other cleaners; they will leave a film on the lens.
The multiple coatings on your lenses are resistant to light scratching, however heavy, abusive scratching can break through the coatings and cause visible marks. Significantly help prolong the life of your lenses by removing dirt and other particles with good cleaning practices and keep your sunglasses in their case while not in use. Good cleaning practices will also help minimize scratching.
To reduce the chances of dropping your sunglasses on surfaces that may scratch your lenses, you might consider investing in a pair of sunglass retainer cords to keep them secure while wearing them.
Clean cloths are a great way to keep your sunglasses clean and smudge free. We recommend you frequently launder your clean cloth to keep if free of debris, dirt and oils that could damage your lenses. Wash in warm soapy water. Do not use fabric softener as this may leave a film on your lenses.
All new sunglasses purchased from Maui Jim include one clean cloth bag and a protective case, but if either of yours are lost or damaged, you can purchase replacements here.

„Hartes“ Wasser weist einen hohen Gehalt an gelösten Mineralien, insbesondere Kalzium und Magnesium, auf. Durch die Zugabe von Natrium während des Filterprozesses wird Wasser enthärtet. Zu alltäglichen Beispielen zählt das Wasser im Swimmingpool und ungefiltertes Wasser, wie etwa Berieselungswasser. „Hartes“ Wasser kann ein Ärgernis für Sonnenbrillenträger sein, da es nach dem Trocknen weiße Flecken auf den Gläsern hinterlässt. Um solche Flecken zu vermeiden, sollten Sie Ihre Sonnenbrille oder sonstige Brille nur mit gefiltertem Wasser (Leitungswasser) abspülen und mit einem sauberen Tuch trocken reiben.
Einige Haushaltschemikalien reagieren negativ mit dem Fassungsmaterial und den Metalloxiden, die in den Beschichtungen Ihrer Gläser verwendet werden. Vermeiden Sie den Kontakt mit Aceton (Nagellackentferner), Laugenlösungen (Fenster- und andere Reiniger auf Ammoniakbasis), methylenhaltigen Haarsprays (auf dem Etikett angegeben), Chlor (Swimmingpool- oder ungefiltertes Wasser) oder Klebstoff.
All Maui Jim sunglasses are saltwater safe and corrosion resistant. As with "hard" water, we suggest you rinse off any sunglass with filtered (tap) water, and wipe dry with a clean cloth.
We recommend that you visit your local sunglass retailer periodically to have them tighten the eye wire screws, attached temples and nose bridge.
